THE DOWN-LOW ON SCLERO

I have been effectively treating veins with Sclerotherapy for years, both at MetroVein with Dr. Goldman and at Bethany Medical with Dr. Peters. “Sclerotherapy” sounds complicated, but it’s actually a pretty simple procedure and often much more effective than laser treatments. It involves injecting the veins with a solution that causes the vein to collapse, forcing the blood into healthier veins. It can be incredibly effective for spider veins and smaller varicose veins.

Sure, no one likes getting poked with a needle. But the syringe is very small, and if you’ve ever had laser treatments, you know that can hurt a whole lot more! Sclerotherapy is a relatively painless procedure. In fact, I’ve been told the worst part is having to wear compression stockings after – they’re a pain in the butt to get on!

If you come into either of my offices for Sclerotherapy, here’s what you can expect: You’ll change into a gown so your legs are exposed. After preparing the Sclerotherapy solution – which is a mixture of glycerin and lidocaine – we will sterilize the area with rubbing alcohol. Each vein will be injected with the solution, which can be a tad uncomfortable but isn’t painful. Depending on the number of veins being treated, the procedure can take only a few minutes. Afterwards, your legs will be wrapped with an Ace bandage for immediate compression.

For the next week, we recommend that you wear compression tights, stockings or knee-highs, depending on the area that has been treated. It’s best to wear them all day, as the compression helps with healing and makes the procedure more effective.

Following Sclerotherapy, you’ll notice that the veins may appear darker and bruises will develop. This is totally normal! In 3-4 weeks, you will start to see dramatic improvement in the appearance of veins. Smaller veins may respond to one treatment, but it often takes 2-3 sessions to achieve the desired result.

I highly recommend Sclerotherapy for vein treatment, as it’s less costly than laser treatment. Feel free to call the office if you have any questions. After all, it’s just about time to get those shorts out for summer!

Nix Wrinkles and Renew Skin with an Ulthera Non-Surgical Facelift

As we get older, our bodies experience changes which directly indicate our age. Some of the most common and frustrating signs of aging include wrinkles, dehydrated and saggy skin, and dark circles underneath our eyes. In fact, practically all signs of aging are directly related to our skin. That’s why skin care is so important in preventing and reversing signs of aging. It’s never too late to start a solid skin care routine, but it’s never too soon to begin one either. Skin is extremely delicate, therefore it is important that we are proactive, yet gentle when addressing skin care issues.

Here at our office, our main concern is advanced skin care practices that are both effective and non-invasive to leave your skin looking fabulous and refreshed without causing further damage or irritation. In today’s busy world, it’s not always feasible to undergo major cosmetic procedures that put a halt on your everyday routine to get rid of wrinkles and other skin imperfections. That’s why Ultherapy Personalized Skin Care is one of our client’s favorite treatments for younger, more radiant skin.

Our Ultherapy Personalized Skin Care is also commonly referred to as the Non-Surgical Facelift. Advancements in technology and skincare have given us the ability to transform your skin and revamp the muscles in your face in the same way a traditional facelift would, minus the pain, risk, and potential scar tissue. We hone the powers of microcurrent energy to “exercise” your facial muscles to ban wrinkles and create a firmer and plumper appearance.

Dehydration is another one of the primary culprits of aging skin and wrinkles. Our microcurrent technology also helps to rehydrate dry, dull skin deep down from within. The best part about this treatment is that it’s soothing and painless and results are immediate. Just like with a traditional facelift, further treatments may be recommended. However, results are long-lasting and have a natural look.

If you're in the New York or New Jersey area, do yourself a favor and get pampered with a Non-Surgical Face Lift!
